The light in the market did the rest.Chicken is fresh in China.Snake wine on display in an apothecary shopI visited a home in Dongchuan where a grandmotherly woman was making these shoes. The only light in her home was by the open door. She sat there on a stool the size of a shoebox. Her smile lit the entire room, though.Firecrackers are apt to go off at any time. They are set off by the hundreds at wedding celebrations.Gingerroot and banana blossoms dipped in fuschia.The streets of Dongchuan were filled with school children carrying colorful umbrellas.Artfully arranged vegetables. The Chinese farmers know a thing or two about marketing.This lovely still life is a common sight in the daily markets.Just a few mushrooms for sale, but they look as if they were painted by Rembrandt.Mist rising from the valleys to crown the mountains of DongchuanLandscape in the style of Chinese brush painting...in my opinion, anyway.Tribal women embroider their clothing and their purses.
