A Day at the Zoo

When our daughters were little, we used to take them to the zoo several times a year. We’d always have a wonderful day because the zoo was designed for children. Now that my daughter are grown, they still enjoy a visit to the zoo…and that is how we spent Mother’s Day.

The reason I like these shots is the way the background enhances the image. The frog was easy, he was in his cage resting on his mini-jungle. The flamingoes were constantly moving and the light was harsh, blowing out the highlights. I had carried an old point and shoot which might have given me some control if I’d remembered how to use it. But I didn’t. I just shot and shot until the batteries died.

I’m planning to go to the zoo again, however.
