A Day in Florence

Ponte Vecchio

Florence, Italy 2015

We took the train to Florence from Rome for a day of shopping for leather and for the Uffizi Gallery…in that order.

We found our leather shop immediately and we spent an hour or so shopping. I remember eating a rubbery pizza for lunch. Then we realized that time was getting short.  (We had an appointed time to enter the Uffizi.) We walked toward the Duomo, surely the Uffizi was nearby. We studied our map. We passed the Duomo. We passed the Duomo again…we passed the Duomo several times and from several different angles. We studied our map some more. We asked people. We asked more people. We picked up our pace. We turned one last corner. Crowds of American tourists in long queues filled the street. Finally we had arrived.
