Bangkok’s Grand Palace

pagodas in Bangkok's Grand Palace gardens

Futuristic

Bangkok, Thailand 2007

Doesn’t this look like a city in outer space? I can just imagine the Jetson’s living in one of those towers.  Or to be more current, maybe this reminds you of something from Star Wars?

Those towers, which are actually pagodas, were built in the late 18th century. They are just a few of the fabulous temples and pagodas that fill the palace grounds for the kings of Siam, now Thailand.

Photographing here was a challenge. So many beautiful statues, pagodas, palaces, Buddhas and my widest angle was 35mm. Not enough. I tried isolating parts of buildings, juxtaposing them, worm’s eye view…not many of my ideas worked. But all you need is one photo!! And I got that!
