Flower Market Delhi

Delhi India 2009

Photos from the Delhi flower market. When you are on a photo tour, you will stop at places like this even though it is high noon and the Indian sun blasts a white light over everything in sight…except for the pitch black inside the worker’s huts. Did I simply stand in the shade of a banyan tree and wait for the other tourists? No. I went out to do the impossible: get a decent photo of the flower market workers.

In a case like this, you shoot inside or you shoot outside. The camera cannot capture such disparities of exposure. I chose inside because that is where the people were… “Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noon day sun”.

Working Together

A husband and wife team string marigolds. I saw these at the Hindu temples where they serve as offerings to the gods.

Surprised in the Flower Market

I surprised these young men and they took it in good stride. Indian people don’t seem to take offense easily even when you enter their space without an invitation.
