Gurunsi Village

Guerounsi woman painting her house: burkina faso

House Proud

A village woman showed us how they paint their homes. They mixed the paint themselves from the red earth. Nearby is a calabash full of adobe for patching purposes. This woman was an elder and seemed to be looked up to in the matter of house painting. Maybe her colors were to be envied for their rich hue, or their ability to withstand the elements, or maybe it was just that her husband was the headman.

Little Rascals in A Burkina Faso village

Little Rascals

These boys were told to keep out of the way and they did. One look at them and you can imagine that they would soon be covered in paint if allowed to run free.
