At the Orphanage

Yangon Burma 2011

An orphan peers from a window in the old monastery/orphanage. There is a hint of friendliness but at the same time his face betrays no feeling. He didn’t duck back into the shadows as did his companion. I’m calling that friendly.

The monk is framed by theĀ old wooden monastery walls. He is isolated by the dark interior. The light from above turns his face into a mask. Inscrutable.
