Islamic Architecture

detail of Islamic art in madrassa: Bokhara, Uzbekistan

Detail Madrassa

Bokhara, Uzbekistan 2012

A typical detail of 15th century Islamic architecture built during the time of Ulugh Beg or Tamerlane as he is known in English.

Each design, made of ceramic tile, is set into a little niche. Those fascinated me. I wondered it they had something to do with acoustics although I don’t think music plays a part in Muslim worship.
