The crowd was mostly women. They covered the hillside, crowding under the lone shade tree, waiting for Theyyam to appear.
I looked for a group of women who would give a sense of the atmosphere at the temple. I chose these women and luckily I caught them at a good moment, almost a Norman Rockwell moment. There was one more woman on the left of the photo but she didn’t add to the group, so I used this vignette to erase her.
