Reverence

Ladakh, India

Our guide pays his respects as we enter another of Ladakh’s many Buddhist temples. When he entered, he stood tall, with his arms stretched above his head, hands clasped. Then he knelt and touched his forehead to the floor.

He tried his best to explain Buddhism to us. The problem is that there are many versions of thought and all are quite complicated. Sometimes he’d be explaining a particular thanka and I’d see something that seemed to me to be related to Christianity…but he could never see it.
