Love in Russia

Russia: newly wed couple pose for photos in front of St. Petersburg landmarks

“Just Married”

St. Petersburg, Russia 2009

Just married. That says it all. They had hired a stretch limo and were making the rounds of St. Petersburg landmarks, posing for photos at each one. Usually, I don’t shoot wedding parties that I happen across, but I’m glad I shot this one. Look at the Love!!! Best wishes to them.

The Soviet Union was good at keeping secrets. One of the secrets was that the country is filled with beautiful young women: blond, blue-eyed and baby-faced. As if that isn’t enough, they are tall with long, shapely legs. We see them now on professional tennis courts, on the cover of fashion magazines and sometimes as the second wife of our friend’s ex-husband.

I watched a documentary on Netflix last night called “Love Me” directed by Jonathon Narducci. The film is about websites that cater to western men searching for a mate in foreign countries. Hint: they go to Russia…on a tour bus! Oh! It’s sad! Women, you think you have it rough trying to find someone! Watch this film, it will break your heart.

A mistake I made with this photo: I should have darkened the reflected light on the top of the fountain…it’s distracting.  I hate excuses, but I had no intention of putting this on the blog until I watched “Love Me”. I just had to tell you about that.
