Marrakesh Souk : Fishmonger

The Fishmonger

Marrakesh, Morocco: Late 1990’s

No words are needed today.

Just FYI, though. The word for fish in Moroccan Arabic sounds like ‘hoot’. If you stay in a riad (an old house converted into a bed and breakfast) in the medina, you can hear the fishmonger calling out each morning. “Hooooot!”. I love the atmosphere of staying in the medina.

When you travel to Morocco, you shouldn’t miss the Erg Chebbi dunes, Morocco’s most beautiful landscape. Contact Ali Mouni at alimouni@hotmail.com or visit his website www.adventureswithali.com
