low key portrait of Catholic priest

The Priest

Rome, Italy 2015

We happened on a religious procession as we walked back to Trastevere. It was broad daylight. But with Photoshop, I can give the impression that this priest is standing in a dark cathedral. It’s kind of like making a composite but a whole lot easier. As I darkened the shadows and kept the highlights, I thought of Rembrandt’s light that hits the side of the face and lights a triangle on the opposite cheek. It’s fun when it turns out.
