Mekong Village
On the Mekong River 2007
The Mekong is wide and muddy and flows past hills covered with dense jungle. The word Mekong is fraught with meaning for people my age. I kept thinking of our soldiers (my brothers among them) during the Viet Nam war…how overwhelming it would be to be plunked down in this hot, muggy, jungle where the land itself was a weapon the enemy used against you.
