Padaung Weaver

Burma 2011

Portrait of a PadaungĀ girl weaving. Her mother owned or ran a shop selling their weavings among other items. The entire family willingly posed for us. The problem was that our guide dictated the poses and I never got the pose I wanted. After scouring my shots, I decided that this one is as good as the one I had in mind. Maybe it’s better because the shot I wanted would have been a copy of another photographer’s idea. I couldn’t get the other shot out of my mind and as a result, I ignored this one for all these years. Luckily, I never delete. I just buy another external hard-drive. They are cheap now.
