Tibetan woman pause in their prayers for a chat

Pilgrims at Zhana Monastery

Zhana Monastery, Qinghai China 2007

Elderly women pause for a rest. They sit opposite the stone walls of the Zhana Monastery. The prayer wheel spins and the rosary beads pass through work-worn hands. They wear heavy outer garments made of yak wool. The woman on the left wears a traditional Tibetan hat but the other two have succumbed to modern head coverings.

Such a fantastic other-worldly scene. Thanks for explaining the “other” hat.
