Portrait of Hunters

Portrait of A Kazakh eagle hunter with eagle

The Hunters

Mongolia-2014

A Kazakh man and his eagle stare into the distance…well, the bird can’t stare…he has his hood on, but he can hear.

Jim Zuckerman (www.jimzuckerman.com) had arranged for a group of eagle hunters to come to our camp on this afternoon. It was a great opportunity for us. The light was perfect and we had Jim and Kevin Pepper (www.kevinpepper.com) to direct the hunters. I wanted some close-ups of the men and the eagles.  I just had to shoot and hope neither of them moved. This is my best.

Thanks, Torie. I’ve looked at photos from some others who were on the tour. Each person had his own take on the situation even though we stood in a group. Looking at other’s viewpoints is a learning experience and it makes me wonder why I missed what they saw.
