Practice at Home

Carrot Rainbow

USA 2017

I bought these carrots for dinner and also to photograph them. I put off the photography practice until it was time to start dinner. Not good, but as they say, it’s the way I roll.

The key to this shot is to have your focal plane parallel to the object you are photographing; this eliminates distortion.

My daughter once bought an old book with photographs, by an Italian gardener, of vegetables arranged like this. He saw beauty in vegetables and his photographs were art.

I’m going to try again. Maybe slice a cabbage in half when we are going to have coleslaw for dinner.
