Melee

Turkistan 2016

We stood on the side of a huge field where the men of the village played Kokpar or Buzhkazi…a form of polo played in Asia. I wanted to get some up close shots of the expressions on the faces of the horses and the men. We had afternoon light and it isn’t as dramatic as the idea I had in my mind. I tried to make up for it by darkening shadows and bringing down the highlights as well.

Melee in Black and White

Here it is in black and white. I like this one better because the heads of the horses become important, they form a flowing line. The concentration on the face of the man in the foreground seems more powerful.

But now I see what I need to do to FIP (fix in Photoshop)…and I’ll show you in a few days.
