Solitude in Siem Reap

Siem Reap deserted temple

Early Morning Light in Siem Reap

Cambodia 2007

Carved portraits of Apsara dancers decorated the bottoms of massive stone pillars. Pools, long empty of water, divided rooms and hallways that sometimes led to a statue of a sleeping Buddha.  Reflections of morning sunlight highlighted scraps of designs painted on the ceilings. Once the sounds of bells, drums, gongs and chants filled the temple. Now all was silent except for birdsong.
