Street Scene in Kochi

Saris in Kochi

Kochi, Kerala, India 2009

A group of young women wearing colorful saris sauntered through a street in Kochi. I stood on a balcony above them. I felt happy that I had a bird’s-eye view of a colorful scene. But my photo didn’t turn out the way my mind’s eye envisioned it. Parked cars detracted. The serpentine line turned out to be not so serpentine in my photo. The dull concrete of the street took up too much space.

It took me years to figure out how to make this to my liking. But I think I will try again!
