She was attending mass at one of Lalibela’s ancient stone churches on St. Gabriel’s day. She sat with her friends on the hilltop alongside hundreds of worshippers, all wearing the white shawl called a shamma.
Suddenly she was standing in front of me, looking up at me, her eyes saying…”you can take my picture!”
