Urgut Market

uzbek woman offers a suzani to a buyer

Look What I have!

Uzbekistan 2012

An Uzbek woman holds a suzani, a hand-embroidered wall hanging, that she hopes will entice a buyer.  Silk chapans, a quilted coat, lined with antique Russian cotton prints could be found. Some were in tatters having been worn for generations but the silk was still beautiful and the colors of the cotton are muted and oh, so retro. Of course, I bought one.
