At the Geerewol

Wodaabe men, Bororo, astride camels

The Discussion

Niger, near Agadez…around 2000

Men in their 30’s discuss the younger men who are performing in the Geerewol.  Of course, I have no idea what they actually said, but I’ll bet it had something to do with “These young guys have no clue about how to be a warrior! Now when we were competing…”

    Hello Rosemary!
I found a blog entry of yours about Araouane, the isolated town in the middle of the Saharan desert. Very interesting. I see you’ve got many entries about your adventures, but you haven’t posted in a while. For whatever reason that is, I hope you’re able to keep exploring the world and sharing about your adventures online, it’s intriguing to read about these places far away from where I live and what you’re doing is amazing!
Wherever you are and whatever your situation is, wishing you the best.

      Hi, Brianna.
Thank you for your comment. You sound like someone who could be a friend!!

I don’t post on my site anymore, nor do I travel. I have family obligations and must stay home these days…

I keep my blog up so that I can remember where I’ve been and what I did there. I am glad that you enjoy reading my posts. Sometimes I look at my site myself and I feel fortunate that I have met so many people, mostly ordinary people, and I feel fortunate. Of course, none of those people remember me, but I remember them!!

      Best wishes to you, Brianna.
      Rosemary
