Fishing Boats: West Africa

fishing boats off the coast of West Africa

Riding at Anchor

On the coast of West Africa 1989

Where was this? For a bit I couldn’t remember. Then I narrowed it to Senegal. The boats look like the ones docked at Accra in Ghana, though: huge, heavy and human-powered. The people you see on these boats are boys who have swum out to climb onto the boats. Their body language tells me they are having a wonderful time. Like all boys, they like to push the envelope.
