Ruins on Cedar Mesa

Cedar Mesa, Utah, U.S.A. 2013

I shot many different angles of the ruins. The usual viewpoint is a horizontal but this one shows more of the rock overhang. Some sections of the overhang look like silk banners. These sections are formed when the soft sandstone separates and falls.

I toned down the natural orange color of the scene and increased the tint of blue in the rocks at the bottom. That is the way you make a photo that has been shot by thousands of photographers your own.
