San Luis Safari

Longhorned cattle grazing on hillside
As good as Africa

The photography here is the same as if on an African safari: trying to get a shot that depicts the animal in its environment. When you are on safari, you see lots of the deer family. They aren’t as exciting as a lion or elephant, but they are interesting. These cattle in San Luis, with their spectacular horns, are interesting to me. I always think of Texas and the wild west when I think of longhorns.

I wonder how heavy those horns are. The cattle didn’t seem to be bothered by the weight or size of the horns. Their necks looked like any other cow’s neck, not more muscular, shorter or set on their shoulders in an unusual way. So, I guess they are happy the way they are.
