Tea with the Berbers

Berber man pours tea

Moroccan Hospitality

Morocco 1998

When ever a guest arrives, a Moroccan will immediately make tea. If the guests are men, a man will do the honors as this man is doing. If the guests are women or family, the woman of the house might make the tea. In the desert, mint is not always available, but sugar is never in short supply. Huge chunks of sugar are dissolved in that tiny teapot.

This man kept watch on his camels as he chatted with my guide. He had a pair of binoculars at this side and now and then he’d scan the horizon for his herd.
