A Smile of Sunshine

Close-up of a smiling Uzbek woman with gold teeth

Golden!

Nukus, Uzbekistan 2013

After visiting the Savitsky Museum, Torie and I explored the market with our guide. This smiling woman walked toward me and I grabbed a shot of her gold teeth. My guide laughed. Maybe it wasn’t such a kind laugh as I wasn’t being very kind myself. In a way, I was making fun of this woman who was proud of her gold teeth.

I asked how people could afford gold teeth with the price of gold so high. I was told that these are only veneers and that younger people no longer want gold teeth. I’m sure this isĀ  due to the influence of theĀ internet and television.

Anyway, it’s all Torie’s fault. She was the one who kept noticing the gold teeth and it is her fault that I took this photo!!

Rosemary, In the course of my career I have made several gold crowns for front teeth and some of them with diamonds in the center. I had some pictures but lost them long ago. Jerry
