All You Need

Young monks sit in a Monastery doorway

In a Monastery in Burma

Burma 2011

I remember how difficult it was shooting in these old teak monasteries. Shards of blinding sunlight entered the doorways and bounced off the wooden floors. Shadows, blacker than the ancient carved teak doors, oozed from the interior depths.  The sauna of the mid-day heat enveloped us in a cloud of humidity. Sweat poured into my eyes. Sweat dampened my hands. Sweat ran down my legs but I stood at my tripod, trying to focus, trying to get the depth of field, trying to get just one good shot because that is ALL YOU NEED.
