Rural North Carolina

Western North Carolina 2016

A small farm nestled in the hills or hollows of western North Carolina. My brother and I would drive off the interstate highway to do some exploring along the “blue highways” as William Least Heat Moon put it in his excellent book of that same title. We loved seeing small town America, eating in small cafes, visiting historic sites such as the building where George Washington first established his surveying business.

There were many electric lines criss-crossing this bucolic scene, but Photoshop made short work of them. I also used Topaz Impression to give the scene a painterly look. I didn’t use the full effect of the Topaz filter. You can apply as much or as little as you want by adjusting the opacity slider of the layer.
