Beehive Houses

Harran, Turkey 2008

Still can’t get Word Press to do what I want!!!

Below you see the unique beehive houses that once dotted eastern Turkey and Syria. Only a few remain, at least on the tourist trail. I noticed a website that specializes in earth-friendly homes on the net. They will build a beehive house for you in your city or town. But it wouldn’t be the same, would it?

Beehive houses in Harran Turkey with unique viewpoint

Beehive Houses

I like this shot because I used the tassels of the tent to frame my beehive houses. We were dawdling, waiting for others to finish their “murrah“, a molasses-thick, coffee served in thimble-sized cups and I spent the time looking for “the shot”. I found it! Moral of the story, take your time, change your viewpoint, look for the story of the place. Is it easy? No.
