Istanbul Landmarks

Blue Mosque with St. Sophia's reflection
The Glories of Constantinople

Here’s a shot I copied from Dennis Cox of Photo Explorer Tours. (I can recommend Dennis’s tours). The photograph shows the Blue Mosque from my hotel window at the Arcadia Hotel in Istanbul. I arranged the curtains and window so that I got a reflection of St. Sophia as well.

Dennis showed us this shot on his laptop. He had requested rooms for us on the 4th floor of the Arcadia. If we had the desire, we could duplicate his shot. I did. I tried this shot many times, under different lighting conditions and I’m happy with my results.  Dennis isn’t the only pro to have this shot. I’d seen it on the cover of a well known travel guidebook, too.

The Arcadia is not far from most of Istanbul’s tourist attractions. You can walk to the Galata Bridge for a fish sandwich. The Grande Bazaar is on the way. In the other direction lie the Blue Mosque and St. Sophia’s and museums.  While you are killing time in your room waiting for your husband,  you have a great view of the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara.
