Bull Rider

“Buying the Farm”

When I went to the rodeo last month, I had problems getting a good viewpoint. Security wouldn’t let me sit near the fence to take my shots even though there were many empty places. A few years ago, I could sit there, crouched down so I wouldn’t block anyone’s view, but now it’s not allowed. As a result, I couldn’t help but get the fence in my pics.  It wasn’t much fun, so I left early.

I liked this photo and used Snap Art 3 to get it to look like a painting. But because of the ugly fence post, I used photoshop to enlarge the canvas and added some paint strokes using the mixer brush to get rid of the post and so the cowboy’s hat wouldn’t be right on the edge of the picture. I added a few touches to the cowboy’s jeans and his hat as well to emphasize them.

It is fun to add these small touches. I like the result.

I’m still trying to learn more about painting my photographs. It is going to take a lot longer than I thought to become proficient. For now, adding some touch-up strokes is the best I can do.
