Burdened

a silhouetted and exhausted looking monk crosses U Bein Bridge,

The Last Man

Burma 2011:  U Bein Bridge

A lone monk who seems to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders crosses the U Bein Bridge.  The skeletons of the bare trees add a sense of desolation and loneliness.

I would have liked it much better if I hadn’t been able to see the structure on the right side which is manmade and detracts from my first notion of a soul traveling to their doom alone and uncared for. J.

      Hi, Jerry!

Doomed is great! Wish I’d thought of that! And your comment about the railing is good, too. Very astute. What this photo brought to mind for me was someone leaving the office on a Friday night after a brutal week. But I couldn’t use that with a monk. Either way, the man looks “gutted” as they say in England.

      Best, Rosemary
