Technicolor Cowgirl

California 2016

I went to the county fair to see some old friends compete in the team roping.  I could choose my viewpoint: close to the chute, far from the chute or in the middle. I went for close. This is my best. I used my best lens (80-200). I rarely use it because it is heavy. I had my new camera a d500 that shoots 10 frames per second. I had no excuses.

Except…the fair opened at 11:00 am which meant harsh sunlight and harsh shadows. I opened the shadows in Photoshop and liked the soft colors. I exaggerated them using Exposure X. They remind me of Saturday afternoons long ago when Roy Rogers and Dale Evans would be playing at the Queen Anne Theater.
