Friesian Stallion

Portrait of a Friesian Stallion

Friesian Stallion

Southern California 2013

Nearly all the horses at the dressage show this weekend were warmbloods (European breeds) or warmblood crosses with Arabian horses or Thoroughbreds. The Friesian Stallion was a novelty with his flowing tail and long fetlocks. His flowing mane is braided as required for dressage shows. Those ‘creases’ you see on his neck are the result of a long, muscular neck being compressed tightly so that his head forms a vertical line to the ground. He is perfectly on the bit.
