Kazakh Landscape

desert landscape of Kazakhstan

Kazakh Hills

Kazakhstan 2016

The desert was hot and empty. We walked in deep gulleys carved by flash floods.  Our drivers told us that most tourists (mainly European) are amazed by the size of the country. I tried to compare it to the American west…Arizona, Texas, Nevada… but couldn’t decide which landscape seemed more vast. One thing, if we had been in America, we would have come upon a fast-food place and been able to get a Coca Cola.
