Morning in Viet Nam

two boats on Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay, Northern Viet Nam 2005

Ha Long Bay is one of the most beautiful place on earth with the mysterious karst mountains rising from the azure sea. But, you can’t believe how hot it was. Unbearable. I wanted to sit on deck and enjoy the scenery but after twenty minutes or so, I’d rush, gasping, down to our air-conditioned cabin.

This is an old Ektachrome slide with a blue-ish tint magnified by the scanner. I compensated with a warming filter to give the look of an old post card.
