Musings in Photoshop

digital painting of sunrise in Northern Russia

Sunrise over Lake Ladoga

My files, digital or otherwise are like a trunk in the attic, full of long-forgotten treasures. This photo/painting is from 2009. The digital file as shot is too contrasty and the colors are rather muddy and harsh. Last week, I decided to have another “go” as the English might say and I was pleased with this result. I used Alien Skin’s Snap Art 4, Exposure X and Topaz Impressions. Mixing and matching plug-ins can result in happy surprises.

digital painting of a wall in Istanbul

Turkish Wall

This is a shot of a wall I walked past on one of Istanbul’s back streets. I smeared it in Exposure 5 or 6…it’s been a while…and got this silky feel to the surface. The streaks and spots add to the abstract feel.

digital painting of an abandoned house

Lonely

I distorted this house in Photoshop using the Lens application in  Camera Raw Filter.  I changed the colors and got the brush strokes in Topaz Impression and Snap Art 4. I probably used other apps but now can’t recall them. Just let your mind loose and see what happens. If you don’t like it, don’t delete!, just go back to the original and wait for another day when inspiration will come.
