Omo Valley with Karo People

Karo man sits on the bank of the Omo River

On the banks of the Omo River

Ethiopia 2014

We had a “teacher” on our tour of Ethiopia. She was a studio photographer and setting up a scene like this was her forte. This was the one time she got out her small studio light with softbox. It lent a glow to the man and boys. She posed the boys in the background, making sure that the curve of the Omo River showed.  In my mind, the boys and the river make the photo although the man wearing his best Karo regalia is the star.

When it was my turn to get a shot, the larger boy took his arm off his knee. Luckily, I noticed. It makes a world of difference as his posture mimics the posture of the man in the foreground.
