Springtime

Gypsy owner releases two dappled grey horses from their stalls at the end of winter

Spring Morning in Romania

Romania 2012

A Gypsy man wanted to show us his horses. We agreed and we waited on the village street. He turned one horse loose and held tightly to the bridle of the other. The horses expressed their happiness by neighing, pawing, trotting back and forth. They were beside themselves. They’d been cooped up for months during the long cold winter and to be outside was exhilarating.
