Garacia woman in traditional costume
Stylish enough for Vogue Magazine

Gujarat, India

A woman of the Garacia tribe stands in front of the village dressmaker’s shop. The Garacia women wear this costume with its vest-like blouse and full skirt. They can make it ‘their own’ by choosing different color combinations or adding embroidery of their own design. I love the vibrant colors this woman has chosen. They go well with her dark complexion. She seems to think so. Her pose says it all. I’ve seen that pose on fashion models in our top magazines, haven’t you? Some people just have that graceful way about them.
