Variations on a Tiger

Tiger drinking water

Thirsty

Los Angeles Zoo 2015

Using Photoshop and plug-ins, it is possible to make similar photos unique.  This shot is saturated but not over the top. The tiger’s fur really did have that intense orange color or that is the way I remember it.

Tiger poised at the edge of the moat surrounding his enclosure

At the Edge

I like this shot because you can see the tiger’s eyes. He seems to be gauging the distance he would have to leap to clear the moat and attain freedom.

This shot is less saturated. I was trying for realism. That is nearly impossible but we can get close. One of my photography teachers would never shoot in color (this was back in the days of film and before the electronic darkroom)  because the colors would never be natural.  I prefer the highly saturated photo. Which do you like?

Tiger with tree processed to look like Chinese brush painting

Tiger with Tree

Another version of a Chinese brush stroke painting. I couldn’t wait to try so I didn’t bother learning about brush stroke painting, not even by looking one up on the net. I’ll try again one day. This is my favorite shot.
