Village in Romania’s Countryside

Romania 2012

There are many lovely villages dotting the countryside in Romania. Many were built by Germans who came to Romania in the middle ages. The Germans as is their wont, built charming, substantial cottages and I am sure many a tear was shed when they abandoned their homes to return to Germany after the unification. Gypsy families soon moved in or the houses were left empty. Prince Charles has a project to restore these villages.
