Dachas on the Volga

Volga River 2009

We saw many of these small enclaves as we sailed along the waterways of Russia. Sometimes a family would be at the water’s edge: everyone in a bathing suit, a blanket spread on the bank. Little blond-headed children splashing in the shallows. Lovely summer days.

I used software to give this the look of a painting. Snap Art 4 brightened the colors and provided those dynamic brush strokes. It’s a much more inviting scene this way. The un-retouched photograph is reality and we all remember summertime as being ethereal.
