A Man’s Job

bored boy works as salesman in Mardin Turkey

Staring into the Future

Mardin, Turkey 2008

A boy waits for a customer in a shop in Mardin, Turkey. Perhaps the man in the upper right corner is his boss who is minding the shop next door. The boy looks bored and unhappy to me but that is me. Perhaps he is glad to have a job: to be able to bring money home to his family. That is the destiny of most boys in poor countries. They help to provide for their father’s family and then they provide for their own family plus the father’s family.
