Spirit of Past Grandeur

Ulanbaater, Mongolia 2014

Jim Zuckerman, hired this woman to model a 15th century costume for us. He had a specific background in mind and we searched and then double backed several times to find a landscape that matched the one in his mind. “I hate to settle.” And we didn’t. The vast grasslands, the purple mountains and glowering sky spoke of the history of the Mongols. The rich colors of flowing silk and her unique headdress completed the picture.

This is one of the photo shoots that Jim arranged for us. And it was here that I nearly filled up a 32 gigabyte card. Well, I was shooting with a D-800, but still.
