Girl of the Steppes

Kazakh girl wears a dell, boots and an expression of curiosity we point our cameras at her

Kazakh Girl

Eastern Mongolia 2014

She played happily as her brother, on horseback, herded their cashmere goats. (Perhaps her father was selecting goats to drive to market.) She wore a tiny ‘dell’, (a Mongolian robe tied with a sash) and handmade leather boots with turned up toes…the better to slip into a stirrup.  She showed no evidence of shyness despite being brought up in this empty steppe.
