Monk Praying

Burma 2011

There were many alcoves with statues of Buddha in this monastery. They reminded me of a cathedral with many altars along the side of the nave…small altars that were seldom used except on the Saint’s name day. Perhaps this Buddha with his benevolent visageĀ is this monk’s special saint.

I like the gold/red light reflected from the richly colored interior. And I shamelessly photographed this young man because I desperately needed a subject. Sometimes when there is so much to photograph, it all becomes a blur. I felt that way at this monastery.

what a glowing image! i love this photo and it’s exquisite serenity, it’s beautiful reds and golds.

      Hi, Torie.
Thank you. I’m glad you like it. It was a large temple…the temple of a thousand Buddha’s. Did you go there? Statues of Buddha were everywhere. Some only a few inches high, some gigantic like the ones in the pic.
